Sanatorium

Pripyat sanatorium was a clinic for the treatment of chronic diseases and medically supervised recuperation. Its name “Solnechny” translates as Sunny.

Located towards the outskirts of Pripyat the building, with its rows of balconies and open foyer, could easily be mistaken for a hotel at first glance. The Wards, the majority with balconies, run the length of the building on both sides and lead off a central corridor. Consequently, while the exterior rooms benefit from the natural light the central corridor is dark and on the uppers floors it is in a very bad way as the weather seeps its way in. There is some equipment left in situ but not as much as in the nearby hospital complex.
